ABOUT AUTODESK PLM 360 CONFIG MONITOR

One of the key benefits to a hosted PLM solution like Autodesk PLM 360 is that many of the system administration tasks like hardware maintenance, software upgrades, and data backup are handled by the provider and not your internal IT staff. Your team needs only to focus on configuration of the environment including tenant setup, business use analysis and application customization, all of which are critical to a successful implementation and user acceptance.

Unfortunately, many of the tasks necessary to complete the PLM 360 environment configuration are somewhat cumbersome due to the location of the information needed. Simple tasks like gathering object identifiers for customization, auditing user licensing and access control, and listing custom field definitions are frequently buried deep in the system, needing many clicks, copies and pastes to find and gather the information you need. This makes it quite difficult to be confident that the system is configured to meet your business needs and even more difficult to insure that it stays that way. In addition, tenant customization, script development and object copying from a development tenant to a production tenant become so very cumbersome that it feels nearly impossible to insure the tenants are in-sync. Until now.

Razorleaf’s PLM 360 Config Monitor was created by our PLM 360 consulting team to ease the pain of PLM 360 configuration and maintenance. It inspects your tenants and extracts the information needed to validate your tenant configuration, expose the properties of data objects, identify security principals, and then PLM 360 Config Monitor saves it all to an easy to read Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or XML file to be used in development. Governing your PLM 360 tenant just got much easier.

BENEFITS

Understand and Monitor Changes: Because you can rerun reports as needed, you can monitor changes to your PLM 360 tenants and understand what’s being modified at a very detailed level. Without PLM 360 Config Monitor, you could spend hours trying to identify slight differences in a tenant’s configuration.

Ensure System Standardization: During the development of an Autodesk PLM 360 tenant environment, there are best practices that can be tedious to follow. PLM 360 Config Monitor reports provide insight into how closely best practices have been followed and give the system administrator the information needed to make appropriate decisions when evaluating, configuring and maintaining a tenant.

Expedite Script Development: When writing scripts in Autodesk PLM 360, the developer needs to use unique identifiers (object IDs) for workspaces, fields, grids, workflow transitions, etc. These object IDs are difficult to locate and are typically many clicks away. PLM 360 Config Monitor saves time and eliminates errors by putting this information at the developer’s fingertips.

Drive Consistency between Tenants: PLM 360 Config Monitor reports allow you to see what fields and settings are different from one tenant to another. This is essential when implementing new scripts, configuring new tenants and porting your development environment to production.

FEATURES LIST

  • PLM 360 Config Monitor establishes a baseline for your tenant configuration by capturing the key characteristics about configured workspaces, fields, grids, workflow transitions, lifecycles, picklists, users, groups, roles, permissions, license types, and more.
  • PLM 360 Config Monitor exposes and captures the user-facing and internal identification details for Workspaces, Sections, Fields, Grids, and Relationships, without requiring someone to hunt for them. The tool digs deep into the system schema to expose these critical pieces of information, and then it documents them all in one place.
  • PLM 360 Config Monitor delivers reports in Microsoft Excel and XML formats.
  • It is hard to tell just how much configuration work has been done on a PLM 360 tenant until you can collect the schema all in one place. PLM 360 Config Monitor not only collects, but also organizes, all of the details of your PLM 360 schema into one consolidated report.
