RevPack for Users saves time by putting revision letter assignment in users’ hands, while maintaining order through detailed access control.
There just aren’t simple answers for dealing with revisions set outside of Enterprise PDM, or for manually setting advanced revision values. Razorleaf’s EPDM RevPack for Users solves these tricky problems, letting users take charge of their EPDM revisions by manually bumping revisions, or jumping ahead several revisions in the revision sequence.
With RevPack for Users, users can jump/bump to any upcoming revision by selecting it from a list. This can be particularly useful in cases where revisions to files occur outside of Enterprise PDM, such as supplier or client modifications. And unlike manual processes or workflows that bump the revision sequence one value at a time, RevPack for Users jumps the revision to the selected value without creating unnecessary revisions inbetween (setting the revision to “C” does not create revs “A” and “B”).
Another common scenario where it is important to bump or jump revisions is during the loading of legacy files and drawings. RevPack for Users puts control in the hands of those close to the data, and lets users set the EPDM revision to match that of the incoming data. Of course, if you have a lot of data to load, and the revision value is stored in the files’ custom properties, you may also want to consider RevPack for Admins.
RevPack for Users is an incredibly powerful utility, but a tool like this is dangerous without some level of control. You wouldn’t want released data to have its revision letter changed, nor would you be likely to want everyone in the system to have this kind of power. All of the capabilities of RevPack for Users are managed by file type, workflow, state, and user group. This provides precise control of which users can control these revisions in which workflow states.
Razorleaf’s EPDM RevPack for Users is available as a standalone product, or as part of RevPack Complete.
