CATIA Operator's Exchange (COE) 2007 - Las Vegas, Nevada

104 (Develop and Deploy): SmarTeam Testing and Virtualization
Most everyone knows that before you make any changes to your production SmarTeam environment, those changes should be evaluated in a test environment first. In the past, it has been difficult to justify the investment in additional hardware for testing purposes. Now, with virtualization, there is no reason not to have a test environment. Use virtualization to evaluate new service packs or versions, the upgrade process, new customizations, or new CAD versions. Learn what pieces of the SmarTeam infrastructure should be duplicated and how they can be duplicated to build a test environment.

205 (Develop and Deploy): ENOVIA SmarTeam Customizations with .NET: Beyond BasicScript
Do you want to take advantage of the .Net Framework, Visual Studio.Net and\or C# from SmarTeam events? SmarTeam provides the ability to attach BasicScripts to SmarTeam events and user defined tools. How though can you connect to .Net from BasicScript in order to take advantage of all of the features of .Net? During ‘ENOVIA SmarTeam Customization with .Net’ we will talk about how you can take scripting way beyond BasicScript. This hands-on session will allow users to roll up their sleeves and create .Net assemblies that are callable from SmarTeam event hooks. Finally, we will discuss some of the Framework version constraints related to SmarTeam and talk about how you can get around the specific Framework version requirements of SmarTeam.

302 (IDM): Why Product Structure Matters
With flexible 3D design tools like CATIA V5, its easy to think of product structure as something that gets done at the end of a project when you're documenting the BOM. However, when complex products, large teams, or short development cycles are called for, product structure should be the first thing on everyone's mind. Why? Come to this presentation and learn why product structure matters and how PDM can be a great tool for integrating product structure with 3D CAD.

312 (IDM): Solving Headaches with the SmarTeam Viewer
Have you ever viewed a CAD file and seen large chunks of information missing or corrupt? How about viewing files that are supposed to show a released revision in the title block, but because they were not released through the CAD integration, the displayed revision is incorrect. If your company hasn’t experienced problems viewing old file formats in recent viewers, you’re one of the lucky ones. There are many ways to avoid and address these issues and other headaches related to file viewing in PDM. Attend this session to learn novel approaches to common viewer problems.

806 (IDM): Getting from Document Management to BOM Management
Many companies implement SmarTeam with the vision of doing more than just document or CAD file management. They envision workflow and BOM management. Some, however, struggle to get past document management. What are the capabilities of SmarTeam BOM management? Where does SmarTeam BOM management fit in your product’s life-cycle? How can you begin to take advantage of SmarTeam BOM management? These topics and more will be discussed during this session.

TR-1: My First SmarTeam Web Script
SmarTeam has a rich and robust API for creating custom applications, but the first step toward harnessing this powerful tool is writing a simple customization. This hands-on session will take attendees line-by-line through some simple customizations to familiarize them with how to access the power of the SmarTeam API. The audience will learn how to write a Visual Basic.NET customization and attach it for use in a SmarTeam Web environment.

TR-2: Creating a SmarTeam Workflow
Come see how to turn that napkin-sketched flowchart into a SmarTeam Workflow that drives your process. In this session, learn how to use SmarTeam’s Flowchart Designer and understand how it brings your process to life. Have you ever wondered what Flow Object Security is or what a Process Supervisor does? How about the difference between an Accept and Reject type response? This session will answer those questions and much more. This session is a great fit for organizations both using and considering the use of Workflow.

TR-16: SmarTeam Attribute Mapping for Word and Excel
Document automation tools are rich and powerful ways to save time and improve consistency in your everyday work. Attend this hands-on session to learn to use the functionality included with SmarTeam to map Profile Card information into Word and Excel files just like you do with CATIA title blocks. Follow along as mappings are created and configured from scratch. You will also learn the effects of choosing the mapping direction and hear some lessons-learned from the field. The information in this session is the foundation you need to take control of Word and Excel attribute mapping in your SmarTeam environment.

TR-18: My First SmarTeam Script
SmarTeam has a rich and robust API for creating custom applications, but the first step toward harnessing this powerful tool is writing a simple script. This hands-on session will take attendees line-by-line through some simple scripts to familiarize them with how to access the power of the SmarTeam API. The audience will learn how to write a basic script and attach it for use in a SmarTeam environment.
