For those administering an ENOVIA SmarTeam Multi-Site replicated environment, there is an age-old problem in diagnosing and re-synchronizing replicated databases when issues occur. This process has always been tedious and manual. Whether you have two sites in neighboring cities or multiple sites around the world, database transactions are regularly being replicated, with each site synchronizing with the others. For multiple reasons, a site can become corrupted and sometimes have more, less or even different data than other sites. DraftSight, a new 2D drafting program from Dassault Systemes, is available in public beta for free, and to enterprises for a small fee (to access extended features and support). It can be downloaded here. The tool is meant to offer all of the same functionality in AutoCAD, and to read and author data in DWG files just as AutoCAD does. On May 12, 2010 the folks in Redmond officially released Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and Microsoft Office 2010 to the public. This latest release of SharePoint includes a number of important new features, some of which are SharePoint-specific, and others of which are tightly tied to the co-release of Office 2010. The updated version will be very compelling for some, and a moderately interesting upgrade for others.
