Windows 7 Release Date Announced
Earlier this month, at the Computex 2009 event in Taiwan, Microsoft announced its timeline for delivery of Windows 7 to the public. Windows 7 is the follow-up to the Windows Vista operating system, and is reported to deliver noticeable performance gains over its predecessor, and to consume fewer system resources for comparable tasks. Microsoft said that Windows 7 will become generally available on October 22, 2009. The announcement is particularly relevant to the IT community because so many companies have yet to move from XP to Vista, so the introduction of Windows 7 will mean that many software vendors will need to juggle support for three mainline versions of desktop Windows.
