Not only do you need to look at capabilities/functionalities to determine the suitability of PDM versus ERP, but you need to consider each system's "view of the world", what you call the PLM Model. I don't see it only with regards to Bill of Material management, but BOM is fundamentally different in these two systems (PDM and ERP).
