Dealing with ENOVIA SmarTeam NLS Errors

If you experience an error referencing NLS files (NLS.xml) when starting SmarTeam Editor, the NLS file referenced in the error message may have been corrupted. Possible causes are network issues, application errors, etc. The NLS files contain information related to SmarTeam’s multiple-language capability (translations). If you think your NLS files have been corrupted, try these things:

Rename the corrupted xml file(s): on the Core Services server, back up your NLS directory (“c:program filessmarteamnls” is the default path). In that same location, rename the existing NLS.xml file and regenerate the corrupted file. Next, run the Multi-languageEnabler.exe (located in the “c:program filessmarteam” folder) and select the correct ENOVIA SmarTeam database.

Log in as an administrator and select the items that need to be populated (Errors, Controls, Database Items). Next, select the source and destination languages. Once this Multi-Language Enabler process completes, the NLS files will be regenerated.
